PORT ANGELES — The U.S. Marshals Service and local authorities arrested Leo Claude Blanton for investigation of a federal probation violation outside a residence at 1223 S. I St. in west Port Angeles today (Wednesday).
Port Angeles police, Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, Sequim police, the U.S. Border Patrol and the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team assisted with the arrest.
Blanton was arrested without incident at about 9:40 a.m. behind the house, Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said.
A perimeter was established around the home as a precaution, Smith said.
“The U.S. Marshals Service and other officers remain on scene as they complete the investigation,” Smith said.
Smith said he did not know the specific nature of the alleged parole violation.
Blanton was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Tacoma in March 2012 to three years in prison for illegally possessing six firearms, and was to be supervised for three years after his release.
He is related to Gary L. Blanton, 51, a Port Angeles man who carried a rifle and held police off in his backyard for two hours last December.
