Unemployment falls a half-percent on North Olympic Peninsula

The jobless rate in Clallam and Jefferson counties fell 0.5 percent during March, a state Employment Security Commission monthly report shows.

Clallam County registered 8 percent unemployment during March, compared with 8.5 percent in February.

The March 2002 jobless rate was also 8 percent.

Jefferson County unemployment fell to 6.6 percent in March, compared with 7.1 percent in February.

The 6.6 percent reported last month compares with 6.4 percent in March 2002.

Washington’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose 0.1 percent to 7.0 percent in March.
