PORT TOWNSEND — The body of a 69-year-old woman found in the waters of Boat Haven this morning (Wednesday) was the result of an apparent suicide.
The woman has been identified but her name was being withheld pending notice of next of kin, said Assistant
Chief Mike Evans of the Port Townsend Police Department.
Evans said that a suicide note was found in a location outside of Boat Haven.
The body was taken to Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend and the coroner was notified.
Evans said the woman did not live in the Boat Haven, but was a Port Townsend resident.
The body was discovered by a Coast Guard crew beginning morning drills outside its Boat Haven headquarters.

PORT TOWNSEND — The body of an adult woman was recovered from the water of the Boat Haven this morning (Wednesday).
The unnamed woman apparently drowned, Deputy Chief Mike Evans of the Port Townsend Police Department said after preliminary investigation.
The body was discovered by the Coast Guard at about 8:20 a.m.
Coast Guard personnel were preparing to begin training exercises when they spotted the body in the water adjacent to its local station, Evans said.
Evans said he believed the the name of the woman would be released later today.
