UPDATE — Child’s body found in burned Diamond Point home

DIAMOND POINT — Clallam County Sheriff’s investigators have found the body of a 2-year-old in the rubble of a home that burned this morning.

Investigators found the remains at about 4:55 p.m. today inside a double-wide mobile home at 121 Blue Ice Terrace in Diamond Point that had burned to the ground, said Patrick Young, spokesman for the Sequim Fire Department.

The cause of the fire, which was reported at 11 a.m. today, remained under investigation, Young said.

The father of the boy, Jeff Bellis, is in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, hospital personnel said.

He was airlifted from Diamond Point Airport to Harborview for treatment of substantial burns and smoke inhalation.

The mother of the child, Heather Bellis, her 4-year-old son and her mother-in-law safely escaped the fire at the Diamond Point home, Young said.

DIAMOND POINT — Firefighters have removed the collapsed roof with an excavator, and are searching the rubble of a burned home for the body of a 2-year-old boy this afternoon after a fire this morning.

The father of the boy, Jeff Bellis, is in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, hospital personnel said.

He was airlifted from Diamond Point Airport to Harborview for treatment of substantial burns and smoke inhalation after the blaze reported at 11 a.m. at the double-wide mobile home at 121 Blue Ice Terrace in Diamond Point, said Patrick Young, Sequim Fire Department spokesman.

The mother of the child, Heather Bellis, her 4-year-old son and her mother-in-law safely escaped the fire at the Diamond Point home, he said.

Investigation is focusing on a wood stove that was operating at the time of the blaze, but investigators hadn’t determined as of 3:30 p.m. if that it was the cause of the fire.

DIAMOND POINT — Firefighters are bringing in equipment to remove the collapsed roof and search for the body of a 2-year-old boy after a morning fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home today.

The father of the boy, Jeff Bellis, was airlifted from Diamond Point Airport to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of substantial burns and smoke inhalation, said Patrick Young, Sequim Fire Department spokesman.

He is in critical condition in the Harborview intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The mother of the child, Heather Bellis, her 4-year-old son and a grandmother safely escaped the fire at the Diamond Point home, he said.

Fire investigators are at the site of the fire to look into the cause of the 11 a.m. blaze that destroyed the structure.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies are on site.

Firefighters seek body of 2-year-old in charred remains of Diamond Point home

DIAMOND POINT — Firefighters are seeking the body of a 2-year-old child in the rubble after a morning fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home.

The fire at 121 Blue Ice Terrace in Diamond Point was reported at 11 a.m. today, said Patrick Young, Sequim Fire Department spokesman.

One man, age unknown, has been airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of substantial burns and smoke inhalation, Young said.

The condition of the other three people who were in the home is unknown now.

“We’re missing a 2-year-old that’s still in the house,” Young said.

Also in the home were the mother of the child, a grandmother and another man in his 40s, Young said.

None of the people have been identified.

The home was completely destroyed and a vehicle next to it was gutted.

The cause of the fire is not known now.
