UPDATE — Clallam County PUD reports phone service restored

UPDATE — Phone service was restored by about 2:17 p.m. today at the Clallam County Public Utility District’s main office in Port Angeles.

Here’s the earlier story.

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Public Utility District phones are down at its main office in Port Angeles, and the Sekiu office is closed today.

Both inbound and outbound lines were not functioning as of 12:25 p.m. after a contractor damaged incoming lines at the office at 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101 in Port Angeles, the PUD reported this afternoon.

The Sekiu office lost Internet connection as a result of the phone outage, the PUD said this afternoon, and was being temporarily closed.

Centurylink was at work splicing the copper back together, the PUD said, and restoration of inbound and outbound service at the office was expected by about 3 p.m. today.

However, the connections to Forks and Sekiu PUD offices, and to the answering service, were not expected to be restored until this evening.

The PUD will post updates on the status of the phone lines to its website at www.clallampud.net.

For PUD customers in need of immediate Customer Services for payment of utility bills or other issues, area offices, with the exception of the Sekiu office, will remain open to serve customer needs in person.
