Peninsula Daily News photographer Keith Thorpe captured these bolts of lightning east of Port Angeles Harbor around midnight Saturday.
This photo image was made above the Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles looking east. The reddish light on the water is the pier at the old Rayonier Inc. pulp mill site.
But the thunder and lightning show appears to be over, with the North Olympic Peninsula swings into a period of precipitation today without Mother Nature’s rumbling.

Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming south southeast between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Tonight: Scattered showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. West northwest wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Monday: Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 61. West northwest wind between 9 and 13 mph.
