UPDATE: Port Angeles bridge girder delivery delayed

PORT ANGELES — The delivery of the first set girders for the Tumwater Creek bridge on Eightth Street, which was originally scheduled today, has been postponed.

Due to a mechanical problem with one of the cranes, the delivery of the first set of five girders has been delayed until Thursday, June 12. More information and a revised schedule will be issued by the city and publicized in Thursday’s editions of the Peninsula Daily News.

The tug was built for the U.S. Army at Peterson SB in Tacoma in 1944. Originally designated TP-133, it is currently named Island Champion after going through several owners since the army sold it in 1947. It is now owned by Debbie Wright of Everett, who uses it as a liveaboard.
