SEQUIM — A 21-year-old Sequim man was listed in serious condition at a Seattle hospital Monday after rolling an SUV on River Road on Sunday afternoon.
Aldo Garcia was driving northbound in a 1998 Ford Explorer when he failed to negotiate a corner, overcorrected and rolled several times near the intersection with Happy Valley Road at about 4:40 p.m., Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Hollis said.
“He came around a pretty sharp corner,” Hollis said. “Speed was a factor.”
Garcia was the lone occupant in the Explorer.
Medics with Olympic Ambulance and Clallam County Fire District No. 3 attended to Garcia and transported him to Olympic Medical Center Port Angeles, Hollis said.
He was then flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Garcia was initially listed in critical condition, but Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg said Monday that he was
in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
Garcia was wearing a seat belt, which had to be cut to get him out of the vehicle, Hollis said.
The wreck is being investigated by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office traffic unit, Hollis said.
