UPDATE: Two killed in collision west of Port Angeles identified; relatives of City Council candidate

JOYCE — Two people were killed in a two-car collision on state Highway 112 just west of U.S. 101 this afternoon.

The victims were identified by the State Patrol as Mary Wyman, 60, and her grandson, Theodin Nelson, 6.

Mrs. Wyman was the mother of Port Angeles City Council candidate Brooke Nelson, and Theodin was her son.

Two people in the other vehicle were sent to Olympic Medical Center. They were Joshua Dickens, 24, and Emily Dickens, 22, of Vancouver, Wash.

The 1:12 p.m. crash appeared to be a head-on collision and blocked both lanes of Highway 112 from about Power Plant Road to the intersection with U.S. Highway 101 for most of the afternoon. The road was cleared about 5 p.m.

The car carrying the Dickenses was a red 1998 Toyota Camry. The other vehicle was a green 1997 Subaru Legacy.
