PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Auditor’s Office has posted its new precinct maps on the county’s elections website.

The maps can be seen at www.clallam.net/elections.

“There is a button on the left-hand side of the page for precinct maps,” County Auditor Patty Rosand said.

“Each precinct has a legal description at the bottom of the page.”

County commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday that consolidated the 95 voting precincts to 67.

It was part of a redistricting process that happens every 10 years.

Having fewer precincts will save taxpayers more than $3,000 per countywide election, Rosand has said.

Residents of Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks, and some in unincorporated parts of the county, have a new precinct number.

The new precincts will be in effect for this year’s primary and general elections.

Last year, a redistricting commission adjusted boundary lines for the commissioner districts based on 2010 Census data. Consolidation of the precincts does not change those boundaries.

Meanwhile, Rosand announced Thursday that Clallam and Jefferson County Voter Education Coordinator Shannon Cosgrove is available to answer questions about voting and voter registration.

“This is part of a $40,000 Help America Vote grant which was awarded to the Clallam County Auditor’s Office by the Office of the Secretary of State to cover both Clallam and Jefferson counties,” Rosand said in an email.

“Ms. Cosgrove will be at many public gatherings, visiting senior centers and assisted living facilities,” Rosand said.

“She is a state-certified election administrator. The grant covers her supplies and wages for voter education efforts.”
