PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was uninjured after the log truck he was driving on U.S. Highway 101 near the Elwha River bridge swerved into a roadside ditch Saturday morning and spilled its load of logs.
Matthew Skerbeck, 54, was driving east at about 8 a.m. when he failed to navigate the curve near the turnoff to Olympic Hot Springs Road and drove into the ditch, the State Patrol said.
Traffic was diverted to one lane until about 11:45 a.m. while the logs were cleared from the road, said Trooper Mark Hodgson, State Patrol spokesman.
Skerbeck, who was wearing a seat belt, was traveling too fast for the curve, the State Patrol said, adding that charges are under investigation.
Neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the wreck, Hodgson said.
