PORT TOWNSEND — A man struck by a car while he rode his motorized wheelchair was listed in stable condition Saturday in Harborview Medical Center.
Larry G. Smith, 71, had been flown to the Seattle hospital after he was hit outside Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, 1232 W. Sims Way, at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses said he flew 12 feet through the air before falling to the parking lot pavement on the north side of the restaurant, according to East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman Bill Beezley.
The car’s driver, Dora Saylor, 72, of Port Townsend, was not cited, according to Port Townsend Police Officer Luke Bogues.
Firefighters said she told them she was looking left as she prepared to turn toward the entrance of the parking lot when Smith motored in front of her Isuzu sport utility vehicle from her right.
Police said her view was blocked by a parked car.
