QUILCENE — A motorcyclist who hit a fire hydrant was in satisfactory condition Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
William M. Clark, 35, of Quilcene was riding an off-road motorcycle northbound on private property in Quilcene at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday when he drove onto East Columbia Street off U.S. Highway 101, according to the State Patrol.
Clark crossed Highway 101 and continued on West Columbia Street when his motorcycle left the pavement and hit a fire hydrant, the State Patrol said.
He was flown to Harborview in serious condition, and his condition was upgraded to satisfactory Sunday.
He was not wearing a helmet, the State Patrol said.
No one else was involved in the wreck.
The State Patrol is investigating the cause. The agency said drugs or alcohol is suspected to have contributed to the crash.
