PORT TOWNSEND – A Port Townsend man was charged Monday in Jefferson County Superior Court in connection with more than $120,000 worth of vandalism to commercial offices and a medical clinic the day before.
James Allen Sarytchoff, 24, faces second-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief charges. He remained in the county jail Monday night in lieu of $10,000 bail.
The interior trashing Sunday morning was inflicted on the Madrona Building, 2500 W. Sims Way.
The vandalism is still under investigation.
“We’re trying to figure out exactly how much damage occurred,” said Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green on Monday.
Green said a motive has not been determined.
Sarytchoff was discovered in the Madrona Building on Sunday morning after a burglar alarm was triggered, according to court documents.
Three occupants of the building – Westsound Bank and Mortgage, Re/Max First Inc. real estate and Madrona Urgent Care Clinic – were damaged.
