IN A CELESTIAL event that won’t be seen again for 105 years, Venus begins its transit Tuesday afternoon across the face of the sun in this photo captured in San Pedro, Calif.
The black dots on the surface near the center of the sun are sunspots.
The transit will continue until sundown.
