PORT ANGELES — This month’s memorial for Clallam County veterans and members of the military who died recently will be conducted at Veterans Park on Lincoln Street, next to the Clallam County Courthouse, at 1 p.m. today.
The public is invited. The memorial, which lasts 15 to 20 minutes, is held the last Friday of every month.
The names of the deceased are read, their military background is noted, and a replica of the Liberty Bell in the park is rung after each name.
There is a flag folding, a three-volley gun salute by the Marine Corps League, bagpiper Thomas McCurdy playing “Amazing Grace” — and taps.
The ceremony is presided over by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Korean Veterans Association and is ringed by a flag line provided by the American Legion Riders.
