PORT ANGELES — Tyler Braithwaite, 17, of Sequim, died Sunday afternoon when he apparently swerved to avoid hitting a deer on a wet gravel road south of Sequim, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday morning.
The pickup left the Forest Service Road in the Slab Camp area and struck a tree.
Two others were in the truck at the time.
Rachel Myers, 18, of Port Angeles, was airlifted to Seattle with leg and facial injuries, while Michael Fleming, 16, of Sequim was transported to Olympic Medical Center with a broken wrist and facial lacerations.
The Ford F-250 truck was the only vehicle involved in the incident, which occurred at about 5 p.m. Sunday.
