PORT ANGELES — The Victoria Express passenger ferry begins its first day of service to Victoria today as a two-month replacement for the MV Coho auto-passenger ferry.
The larger boat is having new engines installed after 44 years of faithfully crossing the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
By daybreak, the 125-vehicle ferry will be gone from Port Angeles to keep an 8 a.m. appointment at a Seattle shipyard.
The Victoria Express’ offseason service will be offered through March 10, when the Coho returns to Port Angeles from Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle with new, more powerful engines.
