Volunteers needed to welcome cruise ships in Port Angeles

A REQUEST FOR for volunteers from Russ Veenema, executive director of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce:

Port Angeles is fortunate to have two large Holland America cruise ships visiting next month.

Oosterdam, with roughly 1,900 people on board, will be here Friday, May 9.

Statendam will arrive Saturday, May 17, with an expected 1,100 passengers.

The ships will arrive at the commercial pier around noon and depart that evening at 11 p.m.

The Chamber of Commerce is recruiting volunteers to assist at the dock. The volunteers would provide a warm welcome, answer questions about Port Angeles and North Olympic Peninsula and sell shuttle tickets.

In addition, we would like to have a person or two at the five shuttle stops throughout Port Angeles that will be in constant use during the afternoon and evening.

If you have an interest to help out and can devote two to three hours, please contact russ@portangeles.org or phone 360-452-2363, Ext. 13.
