Clallam and Jefferson counties have set new records for voter registration with the deadline for the Nov. 4 general election just one day away.
In Clallam County, 664 new voters have registered since the Aug. 19 primary, bringing the total number of registered voters to 44,810 as of Thursday.
That’s nearly a 3 percent increase over the number of registered voters during the 2004 general election.
Patty Rosand, Clallam County auditor, said she expects the number of registered voters to reach 45,000 by the time all of the registrations are filed through the Secretary of State’s Office.
Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said the county had 21,626 registered voters as of Thursday — which is an increase of about 2.2 percent over the 2004 general election.
