SEQUIM — Wal-Mart will build a 118,000-square-foot store that will open in 2004, the retailing giant confirmed Tuesday.
Wal-Mart spokeswoman Amy Hill said an architectural firm in Tacoma has filed a building permit application with the city to construct the store on nearly 40 acres of land at the northwest corner of Washington Street and Priest Road.
“It’ll be our standard store,” she said.
Still, the project will require streets in the area to be upgraded — at Wal-Mart’s expense — to handle more traffic.
During a telephone interview from her Reno, Nev., office, Hill reiterated that the 129,000-square-foot Wal-Mart store in Port Angeles will remain open.
