SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has resumed walk-in adoptions for cats and will soon resume them for dogs as well.
The society suspended walk-in adoptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kitty City, 91 S. Boyce Road, is open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

“People who are interested in adopting kitties are welcome to drop in,” said Jason Stipp, the society’s executive director. “Our shelters are now disease-free and kitten season is upon us — five litters of kittens have been surrendered already this spring.”
Although appointments are still necessary at the Bark House, 1743 Old Olympic Highway, Port Angeles, the society is constructing an adoption trail there to accommodate no-appointment visits by potential adopters of dogs.
“We conducted four off-site adoption events, totaling 26 dog adoptions in April,” Stipp said, “but an unprecedented number of surrenders — nine or 10 each week — is stressing the dogs and our staff. As a result, we are creating the adoption trail so people can come to find their next best friend, without an appointment.”
