Weather Service adds wind warning to flood watch advisory

The National Weather Service this morning issued this advisory flood watch affecting the North Olympic Peninsula, then added a warning for high winds — especially on the West End.

* IMPACTS…WINDS THIS MORNING COULD TOPPLE SMALL TREES OR CAUSE

LOCAL POWER OUTAGES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 TO 39 MPH OR

GUSTS OF 45 TO 57 MPH ARE LIKELY. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN SNAP

SMALL TREE BRANCHES…TOPPLE SMALL OR SHALLOW ROOTED TREES…AND

CAUSE LOCAL POWER OUTAGES.

Unlike a flood warning, a flood watch advises the public of conditions favorable to flooding, but that floods are not imminent.

.A FRONT WILL STALL OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY.
