WEEKEND: Actor to give her final local performance Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — PT Shorts, the free literary reading held every first Saturday of the month, will celebrate the late Ray Bradbury, the soon-to-relocate Denise Fleener and Independence Day on July 6.

“Great American Authors for a Great American Holiday: Back to the Future with Ray Bradbury” is the title of this hourlong reading at the Pope Marine Building, 603 Water St.

Actors Fleener, David Schroeder and Deborah Hammond will read Bradbury’s “All Summer in a Day,” “The Sound of Thunder,” “The Veldt,” “There Will Come Soft Rains” and “The Pedestrian.”

PT Shorts, presented by Key City Public Theatre, will get started at 7:30 p.m. As always, admission is free to the event, which coincides with Port Townsend’s Gallery Walk in nearby art galleries and shops from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

This will be the last Port Townsend appearance by Fleener, who’s about to move to San Diego. The actress is known for her work in many Key City Public Theatre plays, including “The Soup Is Served,” “Boyce and Melinda’s Investment Strategies for the Post-Money World,” “What the Butler Saw” and “The Art of Dining.”

For more information about PT Shorts and other Key City activities, see www.KeyCityPublicTheatre.org or phone 360-379-0195.
