PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man will tell of his adventure sailing to the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia and show photos of the journey and of the island of Nuku Hiva at 7 tonight.

John Wegmann will present “A Passage to Paradise: Sailing to French Polynesia” at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

It is part of the Port Angeles Adventure Travel Slide Show Series, a benefit for the Peninsula Trails Coalition, which is held each Friday through Jan. 31.

Suggested donation for each event in the series is $5 for adults and teens. Children 12 and younger also are welcome.

In April, Wegmann and his son, Alex, crewed a 37-foot sailboat on a 2,700-mile voyage from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia.

He will show photos of the journey and destination.

Donations to the series will provide for the purchase of tools, equipment and lunches for volunteers who maintain and build the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Adventure Route.

Diver and photographer Hal Everett will speak on “The World Underwater” on Jan. 24.

Dow Lambert finishes the series with a slide show on “Photo-birding on the North Olympic Peninsula” on Jan. 31.

For more information, phone Gunvor Hildal at 360-452-8641 or Gail Hall at 360-808-4223.
