PORT ANGELES — The American Legion Post 29 plans a full day of events at the Veterans Center on Saturday.
A spaghetti feed, yard sale and silent auction at the center at 216 S. Francis St. will benefit the Captain Joseph House and Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
The yard sale is set from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the meal planned from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a silent auction from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., said Tammy Sullenger, county veterans’ coordinator.
“The meal and the sale are by donation or ‘make offer,’” Sullenger said.
The yard sale will include many motorcycle parts and accessories donated by the American Legion Riders, Sullenger said.
Area businesses have donated to the silent auction, she added.
Captain Joseph House
All sales will go toward donations to the Captain Joseph House and Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
The Captain Joseph House is envisioned by Betsy Reed Schultz of Port Angeles as a place of healing and relaxation for families of fallen military men and women.
Named for Reed Schultz’s son, Army Capt. Joseph Schultz — who was killed in action serving in Afghanistan on May 29, 2011 — the haven will be sited at Reed Schultz’s former Tudor Inn bed-and-breakfast at 1108 S. Oak St.
Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County provides free services to terminally ill patients and their families.
