PORT ANGELES — The Red Crow band will alight inside the Black Diamond Community Hall for another night of contra dancing — with all ages and abilities welcome — this Saturday night.
Michael Karcher, a seasoned dance caller from Seattle, will keep everyone moving to the music, starting with a beginners’ contra dance workshop at 7:30 p.m.
“[Karcher] is a great, easy-to-learn-from teacher,” said Elizabeth Athair, a member of the contra dance community.
Admission to monthly dance
Admission to these contra dances, typically held the first Saturday night of the month, is by donation. For adults the suggested amount is $7; for youngsters 17 and younger, it’s $3. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, however.
“One thing that’s so cool about our dances is they have a variety of ages, from schoolkids to great-grandparents,” added Erran Sharpe, a Port Angeles dancer, caller and musician.
