OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — Horse riders and stock users can meet park packers and learn about backcountry travel in the Olympic wilderness at the park’s annual Barn Day on Saturday.
Barn Day will begin at 9 a.m. at the Elwha Barn, which is on Whiskey Bend Road off Olympic Hot Springs Road, about 7 miles west of Port Angeles.
It will feature workshops on packing, trail equipment, leave-no-trace and trail etiquette.
Participants cannot be accompanied by stock animals.
The event is part of National Park Week, which also will be marked by the waiving of entrance fees into Olympic National Park beginning Monday and continuing through next Friday.
