The Bee Eaters

The Bee Eaters

WEEKEND: Bee Eaters to buzz into Port Townsend tonight

PORT TOWNSEND –– No, it’s not a traveling circus act.

The Bee Eaters bring a unique blend of bluegrass, meshing fiddle, cello and dulcimer to produce a natural, simple harmony to the second of Key City Public Theatre’s Cabaret Concert Series.

The Bee Eaters play at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St., at 8 p.m. today.

Made up of siblings Tashina and Tristan Clarridge, along with Simon Chrisman, the band takes its inspiration from the natural surroundings the sibling founders grew up around.

Tashina’s fiddle, Tristan’s cello and Chrisman’s hammer dulcimer comprise the trio of unique instrumental blend.

The Clarridge siblings are both Grand National Fiddle champions and have toured with well-known musicians across America.

Chrisman, who grew up on Bainbridge Island, plays the hammer dulcimer with a flair that pushes the limits of an instrument that is typically limited in sound.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 360-385-KCPT or online at www.keycitypublictheatre.org.
