Special displays include original artifacts from the Coast Guard in World War II.

DISCOVERY BAY — The Olympic Peninsula Rocketry 4-H Club will host the 10th annual “Pasture Blaster” at 922 W. Uncas Road today, Saturday and Sunday.
The range is open from noon to 6 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The entry fee is $3 for adults and free for kids. Fees are good for all three days with wristbands.

Events include a spot landing, a streamer duration, a cash-only silent auction, a drawing for model rocket kits, a kids crayon duration contest and more.
Trophies will be awarded for competitive events.

Back to School Fair
SEQUIM — School supplies will be distributed during the Back to School Fair at the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula at 400 W. Fir St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Supplies were donated during a Stuff the Bus event Aug. 2 in the Walmart parking lot.
Shoppers were invited to purchase school supplies and drop them into cardboard containers.
Cash donations also have been received and are being used to buy items to fill in what is still needed.
Donations of school supplies can be dropped off at the school district office at 503 N. Sequim Ave. or at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District’s 2014 Back to School event for families in need will be at Jefferson Elementary School, 218 East 12th St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The district is working with Parent Line/Lutheran Community Services NW and other local service organizations to host the event.
Many supplies and opportunities will be available free to K-12 students, including school supplies, haircuts, community services resources and additional back-to-school information.

PAHS car wash

The event is to raise funds for their 2015 spring break trip to New York City.

Saturday’s hike will be of the Klahhane Ridge Trail, a moderately difficult hike of 5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1,700 feet and a high point at 6,046 feet.
On Sunday, the group will hike the Grand Ridge Trail, a moderately difficult hike of 5 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 700 feet and a high point at 6,600 feet.

JOYCE — The Crescent Grange, 50870 state Highway 112, is sponsoring the Joyce Community Picnic beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The grange will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings with soda, water, tea, coffee and service.

BLOCKFest at Forks
FORKS — A free BLOCKfest event is planned at the Peninsula College Forks Extension site, 481 S. Forks Ave., from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
BLOCKfest is an interactive math, science and literacy event for parents and their children aged 8 months to 8 years.
During the event, five block stations will be set up, allowing parents and their children to spend time at each stop.
Each area features a different kind of block. They range from cubes to planks to unit, foam and brick blocks.
A trained volunteer facilitator will be at each site to support the block play, which is intended to support math and science learning in young children and help prepare them for kindergarten.

Drag race, car show
FORKS — West End Thunder will host drag racers at Forks Municipal Airport, South Forks Avenue, on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will also be a Show and Shine car show and the Arlen Pearsall Memorial Race.
Admission for spectators is $10 each day; children 12 and younger are admitted free.
Registration for the Show and Shine is $15 each day, and drag race registration is $30 daily.
