PORT ANGELES — Dance caller Jean Gorrindo and the Country Capers band will supply the live music — and a bit of guidance — for an all-ages contra dance at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road, this Saturday night.
Contra, a line dance from New England, is for singles, couples and families, as everyone dances together.
A beginners’ workshop and refresher starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and then the Country Capers play from 8 p.m. till 11 p.m.
Admission is by donation to these monthly dances, while the suggested contribution is $7 for adults and $3 for those 17 and younger. Dress is casual and people of all dance experience levels are encouraged to join in.
This time around, one of the band members is offering to teach a class in Cape Breton-style fiddling. Jane Landstra, a teacher and recording artist who lives in Poulsbo, is available for a class Sunday. For details, phone 360-477-7222.
