PORT TOWNSEND — The annual Gershwin Gala, an afternoon of music, art, food and drink, comes to the Turtle Bluff house, 523 Blue Ridge Drive, this Sunday.
In this last event of the year, guests are invited to enjoy an art show by Port Townsend painter Sandra Smith-Poling — a former Air Force flight surgeon inspired by her global travels — along with pianist Louis Aissen joining Ciel Pope, Diane Bond and Rio Storey in offering Gershwin songs.
The art show will start at 1 p.m. Sunday and be followed by Aissen and company at 1:30 p.m.
At 2 p.m., duo-pianists Gwendolyn Moore and Barbara Hinchliff will play Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” plus a few jazz songs and finally “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Tickets are $50, with proceeds to benefit the Turtle Bluff Scholarship Fund for young musicians.
Fundraiser-in-chief Rosalee Hablutzel is donating hors d’oeuvres, a couple of raffle drawings will be held, and drinks from Ancient Vines Wine Co. will be available all afternoon on the music room porch.
