PORT ANGELES — Following the “Bare, Naked Souls” photography exhibit last weekend, a performance-art event of the same name will come to the Alle Stage at Studio Bob this Saturday night.
Dancer Merryn Welch is producer of “Bare, Naked Souls,” the show, to begin at 8 p.m. with 14 artists offering spoken word, dance and visual art that Welch promises will be hard-hitting.
Admission is $10 at the door of Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St.
“In the 15 years I have performed, this is the most personal, emotional and powerful show I have ever undertaken,” said Welch, adding that “Bare, Naked Souls’” performances explore body image, coming out and substance abuse, among other subjects.
The cast is “an incredible list of talent,” she said.
Performers include Clay and Angie River, known for her Rebels on Stage presentations at Studio Bob; dancers Tana Villella, Matthew Finley, Brandon Christensen and Amy Christine Meyer, as well as artists Rondo Barracuda, Samhain Harvest, Sol, Wayne King and Nicole Perez.
Chuck Burnell is master of ceremonies, while Kailyn Davis and Valerie Fuchser’s photography and poetry also are part of the show.
These performers, Welch said, “are bravely showing the audience their own personal scars.
. . . [They] are examples of endurance and strength.”
