PORT TOWNSEND — The 12th annual Jefferson Community Garage Sale — clothing, antiques, tools, books, glassware, electronics, furniture and hundreds of other items — takes place at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
“People are always trying to save,” Sue McIntire, county fair treasurer and office manager.
“But while they always used to shop for fun stuff at the sale, in recent years, they are looking for things they need.”
‘Early bird’ pass
Admission is free, although an Early Bird VIP Shopping Pass will be available at the gate for $10 at 8 a.m. Saturday.
It allows admission at 8:15 a.m.
“There are a lot of good bargains,” McIntire said.
“Last year, there were 65 people who got here early and paid $10 to go in 45 minutes early.”
More than 40 vendors will offer a wide variety of goods. Booths and selling spaces are still available.
McIntire characterized the garage sale’s offerings as ranging from collectible items to “junk,” saying it is an opportunity for people to find what they want or need.
Overall vendor
The fair is itself a vendor and is selling items that have been donated over the past several weeks to benefit its operation.
Items for the garage sale can still be donated at the fairgrounds from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
The money raised will be used to purchase equipment.
Last year, the proceeds funded 15 new tables.
McIntire said she hopes to raise enough money Saturday to get another 15 tables.
