Today and tonight are Friday, Oct. 25.
BRINNON — In the comedy “Frankenstein Slept Here,” the Baroness Frankenstein has opened the gates of her castle, inviting in those who just cannot deal with the outside world.
In they come: Jacqueline Hyde, a descendant of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; a Medusa with snakes for hair; crazy Igor; the Mummy; a Phantom Bride; an Invisible Man; the thirsty Vampira.
These “Frankenstein Slept Here” characters are about to come alive, courtesy of the Brinnon Community Theatre troupe — but only three times: 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.
The setting is the Brinnon Booster Club, 151 Corey Lane, and admission is $5 for adults and teens, while children age 12 and younger are invited to the show free.
Things get weird right off. The creatures, in order to be paid by the castle owner, pose as servants: Igor as the gardener, the Mummy as the butler, Vampira as the cleaning lady. The Monster is laid out on the dining table.
“Frankenstein” has “by far the best set, music, lights and special effects we have ever done. It is going to be awesome,” promised director Robin Lakenes.
The cast includes children, teenagers and grownups. While Kathi Mueller portrays the Baroness Frankenstein, Nicole Black is Hanna Hoople, a society matron. Katherine Nydegger, 13, is Jacqueline Hyde, and the Phantom Bride is the well-veiled Meghan Draper.
Vampira is known in the daytime as Abigal Zelen; Medusa is portrayed by 12-year-old Lacey Bishop. Dennis Todd is Igor; Jenny Loring portrays Mrs. Hoople’s niece, while Brandon Schleich plays her husband.
C.J. Nydegger portrays a werewolf, also called the “disagreeable canine,” while young Ben Zelen is the Mummy, aka “an old Egyptian.”
The Invisible Man, Lakenes noted, plays himself. He figures in one of the show’s best scenes: a fight between the werewolf and the Invisible Man.
