COYLE –– Lifetimes, be they relatively short, of blending voices and strings are on display this weekend.

Five members of the Crichton Family Band and the singing Cylwik Sisters will combine their collective talents to produce a superband of bluegrass, Celtic, gospel and country origins for a special show called “Strings and Things.”

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Growing up the children of non-musical parents, the Crichton Family Band shows how children left with string instruments can blossom into a powerhouse of old-timey musical stylings.

Aged 17, 15, 13 and 11 years old, the Crichtons rotate through multiple instruments but have earned awards from fiddle festivals around the region.

Singing together for three years, the Cylwik Sisters have developed into accomplished musicians of their own, adding the harp, ukulele and guitar to their traditional vocal harmonies.

The sisters have performed in churches and community clubs and have delighted retirement homes around the Northwest.

Saturday’s show is free and open to all ages.
