WEEKEND: Soul Motion Week to awaken bodies starting Sunday in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Soul Motion Week is about to start, and that means low-cost dances with a variety of leaders, open to the public at the Madrona MindBody Institute this Sunday through next Sunday, March 30.

Madrona, the dance and movement arts center at Fort Worden State Park, is hosting a group of Soul Motion teachers-in-training from near and far, so these apprentices will lead Soul Motion classes — free-form dances to music from around the world — for just $5 per one-hour session, while no one will be turned away for lack of funds. No partners nor formal dance experience are needed to take part.

Longtime leader Aletia Alvarez invites everyone to the free-form “Body Prayer” and “Soulfull Sunday” dances Sunday morning.

For more information about these and the many other classes, stop by the Madrona institute, aka Building 310 at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way; phone 360-344-4475 or email info@MadronaMindBody.com.

Participants are asked to arrive on time so everyone can begin together.
