PORT ANGELES — A poetry slam for young poets and actors in grades 6-8 is set at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., at 6:30 tonight.
Students will compete by reading an original poem or performing a published poem.
This event is free and open to the public.
Slam contestants represent the winners of elimination competitions held in classrooms or at the library.
“The annual slam is a great opportunity for students to express themselves” said Youth Services Librarian Jennifer Knight.
Judges for the 2014 contest will be Peninsula Daily News Features Editor Diane Urbani de la Paz, Port Book & News owner Alan Turner, Peninsula College instructor Michael Mills and North Olympic Library System board member Betty Gordon.
