PORT TOWNSEND — Some $900 in cash prizes will go to the young singers, musicians and dancers in the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow, the annual talent show at Port Townsend High School this Sunday.

Admission at the school’s auditorium, 1500 Van Ness St., is $7 for adults, $5 for students and free for children younger than 5.

The event has three parts, starting with the presentation division featuring students in kindergarten through sixth grade performing at 3 p.m.

After a short intermission, the junior division of seventh- through ninth-graders will step onto the stage, and finally, the senior division of 10th- through 12th-graders will compete at 4:30 p.m.

“We’ve got an unusually high number of really talented kids in the junior division this year,” said organizer Barb Trailer.

“It’s going to be a fun show, with a lot of variety,” from pianists and guitarists to rappers and dancers.

With 16 acts in the presentation class and 14 more in the junior and senior divisions, about 75 youngsters will perform, Trailer noted.

First prize for the senior division is $300 in cash, second prize is $200 and third $100.

The top competitor in the junior division will take home $150, while second prize is $100 and third $50.

Two “multi-talent” awards will be presented to contestants in the junior and senior divisions, Trailer added.
