NEAH BAY — The Makah tribe has successfully done what Port Angeles couldn’t — it has built a community Web portal.
The tribe’s Internet portal at www.makahcap.net is online and will be featured at the second Tribal Technology Conference this week in Ocean Shores.
The event runs from today through Friday at the Quinault Nation’s Beach Resort and Casino.
The portal was created with Makah community involvement and content was directed by the Makah Community Technology Team.
The portal includes calendars, classifieds, community resources, and cultural, government, health and learning information.
“The team identified early on the need to communicate more accurately at all levels of community, both at a tribal government and community level,” said Tracey Rascon, the Makah tribal member who took the lead role in organizing the community technology team.
