FORKS — Organizers are gearing up themselves and their communities for the annual Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction.
The auction — which raises scholarship money for Forks High School graduates — has tried to top the previous year’s figures each year since it was initiated in 1963.
Last year, the auction raised $87,722 for scholarships.
Organizers hope for more this year’s event, which takes place March 16 and March 17 at Bank of America, 481 S. Forks Ave.
The auction will be televised on cable Channel 19 in Forks and broadcast on KVAC/KLLM radio.
People can bid on auction items at the event or over the phone.
“It is a big community celebration and is a real rally point for the community to show how supportive they are of the kids,” said Bill Brager, treasurer of Quillayute Valley School District Scholarship Fund Inc.
Brager received a scholarship after graduating in 1973.
