FORKS — Quillayute Valley School District officials last week unveiled their $10.89 million preliminary general fund budget for fiscal year 2001-02.
The budget represents a reduction from the 2000-01 fiscal year budget of more than $700,000.
School Board President Bill Rohde said the decrease in the budget is partly because of the decrease in the number of students who attend district schools.
The budget also reflects school officials’ projections of future declining enrollments.
The board is planning on the conservative side, he said.
Lower revenues from the state may be another reason why the preliminary budget is lower this year, he said.
