NEAH BAY — Makah tribal officials said more than $20,000 will be raised from the new recreational use permit by December.
The tribe implemented the recreational permit program in July.
The $7 permit, which is good for the calendar year, must be purchased by those hiking or touring the recreational areas of the reservation.
“We have sold a lot of permits without one direct complaint,” said Bob Polasky, general manager of the Makah Tribal Council. “We are expecting next year to be even better.”
This year, money collected will assist the tribe pay past debts for informational signs and the printing of the permit, he said.
