NEAH BAY — After a two-day delay caused by road-closing mudslides, Makah tribal members will head to the polls today for council elections.
Rosella Johnson, Makah tribal enrollment officer, said as many as 608 voters will decide who will be elected to Positions 1 and 2 on the tribal council. Both positions carry three-year terms.
The remaining three council seats are not up for election until 2002 and 2003.
Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Makah Marina conference room.
After the polls close, ballots will be tallied — officials hope to compile results by 7 p.m.
