PORT ANGELES — A pair of iron whales won the Community Choice award given to the most popular yearlong Art on the Town exhibit.
“Mother and Child”‘ by Bruce Holmes of Enumclaw was voted the favorite artwork for 2001.
Between 500 and 600 people voted, said Cassie LaPierre-Shuck, of the Port Angeles Downtown Association, which sponsors the exhibit. “It was a very close race.”
“Gandy Dancer,” a life-sized statue of a railroad worker, by Gig Harbor-based artist Jim Mattern, took second place.
Only two votes separated the first and second place winners, LaPierre-Shuck said.
