PORT TOWNSEND — Elisa Halcomb thought her dog, Allie, was just chewing on a dirty stick Tuesday evening until she gave the object a kick.
Immediately, Halcomb saw toes.
And they moved.
“I just felt numb and shocked and horrified,” she said.
For the next 19 hours, Halcomb, her children, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Country Search and Rescue waited to find out whether the foot was human.
They got that answer Wednesday, just after noon.
The foot came from a bear, Detective Debbie Kronk said.
