WHILE SNOW DAYS conjure images of sledding, sleeping in and hot chocolate, they can also compromise education goals.

Especially when it snows, and snows. And snows.

Such is the case in the Chicago area, where some schools — click on: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-02-02/news/ct-snow-day-telecommuting-met-20140202_1_snow-days-school-cancellations-students — are trying something different: teachers are uploading digital lessons and holding classroom discussions online.

Assuming it can be handled technologically, should our local schools try this?

(This is a purely a general, non-scientific survey, not tied to any plans by North Olympic Peninsula school districts. Plus it’s been a slim year so far for snow in our area.)
