PORT ANGELES — A man in Idaho phoned the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce last week, asking when the USS Abraham Lincoln will be off Port Angeles.
The aircraft carrier is returning home to Everett on Tuesday from the war in Iraq.
The caller wanted to drive from Idaho to watch as the ship cruises past Ediz Hook.
Local residents from Neah Bay to Port Townsend have contacted the PDN, saying they wanted to know what time the giant carrier will pass so they can look, wave or just say thanks.
But the Navy says it can’t release any information on the ship’s movements, even though the ship will be only hours away from its scheduled arrival time in Everett once it enters the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
“Sorry, homeland security concerns,” Naval Station Everett spokesmen said Saturday.
