SEQUIM — Construction crews have closed the intersection of Whitefeather Way and U.S. Highway 101 east of Sequim.
The intersection will remain closed during the Johnson Creek fish passage abatement project, which is scheduled for completion this summer, according to the state Department of Transportation.
A marked detour, via West Sequim Bay Road, is in place.
The change was instituted to reduce the potential for collisions, WSDOT said.
The Olympic Discovery Trail is still accessible at Whitefeather Way.
The project is part of WSDOT’s court-ordered fish passage abatement program. More information is available at wsdot.wa.gov/construction- planning/search-projects/us-101-jefferson-and- clallam-counties-fish- barriers-remove-fish- barriers.
