U.S. Highway 101 around Lake Crescent is now closed to vehicles wider than 12 feet because of a pesky Barnes Point slide that fell Saturday night.
Vehicles with wide loads must use state Highways 112 and 113 as alternates. The width limit will likely last through Dec. 23, the state Department of Transportation said Tuesday.
Meanwhile, crews are flagging traffic in alternate directions on the westbound lane of Highway 101 near Barnes Point.
Drivers can expect periodic 20- to 30-minute delays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily at the rock slide site until the work is completed later this month, Transportation said.
The slide closed the highway Saturday night. Both lanes were cleared Sunday, but the eastbound lane remains closed while engineers study how to stabilize the rock face.
